Push notifications are alerts sent directly to your desktop whenever you're online. You don't necessarily need to be on The Dallas Morning News website to receive them. Here's how to check your settings to ensure notifications are enabled.
1. Check Your Browser Settings
You may no longer be opted in to receive notifications through these settings. Go to 'Privacy and Security' and be sure that 'Allow' is checked.
2. Check Machine Settings
Your device may have disabled settings. Instructions for PC and Mac are below.
Mac Users:
- On your Mac device, go to 'System Preferences > Notifications.'
- On the 'Notifications' tab, scroll down the list until you see the web browser on which you're opted in.
- On that browser, ensure that the 'Allow Notifications' toggle is enabled and that the 'Banners' style is selected. Note: If you use Google Chrome, there are times when two Google Chromes will be listed. Be sure that both have 'Allow Notifications' enabled.
PC Users:
- On your PC device, open the 'Start/Windows' menu and search for 'Notifications.'
- On the 'Notifications' page, ensure that the browser you are using is marked 'active.'
3. Confirm Settings are not Silenced/Muted
If you're on a Mac, go to the 'Focus' settings and ensure that 'Do Not Distrub' isn't enabled.
If you're on a PC, go to the 'Focus Assist' settings and ensure that 'Alarms Only' isn't enabled.
